Hope you all had a happy holiday! I don’t know about you, but I’ve been feeling so uninspired when it comes to style these last few months. It’s hard to get excited about new pieces when a) I don’t know if they’ll still be relevant by the time I can wear them out in the “real world” and b) I don’t know whether I should opt for my current COVID size (lol) or my normal size. But one thing I can always get excited about is timeless, quality pieces that transcend any current trends. In fact, I’m thinking about starting a recurring series here on the blog about the be-all and end-all purchase for different categories, from plaid blazers to gold hoop earrings. Today, we’re starting with the quintessential camel coat!
This beautiful wool and organic cashmere camel coat is from Reclaim, a new slow fashion brand built on elevated, functional pieces. I knew from the second I saw this coat that it’s one of those forever items you spend years hunting for, and maybe even collecting fast fashion alternatives of until you land on the perfect one. Trust me, I’ve been there — I can’t tell you how many times I’ve purchased a “throw away” item because I wanted the right now version and didn’t want to wait (or pay) for the right version. But buy this camel coat, and you’ll never have to buy another camel coat ever again.
Not only is the material warm, luxurious, and wrinkle-free with a nice weight to it, but Zana, the founder of Reclaim, actually improved upon the design of her brand’s original camel coat to create version 2.0 — and it’s perfect. Similar coats usually market for upwards of $1000 (Max Mara anyone?), but with this coat, you get the same quality without the markup, plus, the benefit of supporting a woman-owned, slow fashion brand while you’re at it.
