I shared the news on Instagram a little over a week ago, but wanted to recap here too — David and I are engaged!!! If you’ve been reading this blog for awhiiiiile, you may remember this post I wrote in 2012 when we first started dating, and well, 9.5 years later, we’re finally getting married 😂.

He proposed on our trip to Hawaii — our very first trip out of state since February 2020 when we went to Vegas (and basically when he purchased the ring). He had been holding on to the ring and planning for a proposal during our international fall 2020 trip. Alas, a full year later, we were finally able to make a vacation happen — David pulled the proposal off, caught me completely by surprise, and I’m still in disbelief almost two weeks later! (I don’t think I’ll ever get over how in the dark he had me.)

Proposal aside, we had such a good time in Hawaii with our friends. Now after having experienced my friends’ engagement that we were present for, and my own engagement that they were present for, I’m a firm believer that having friends be a part of the big moment makes the celebration all the better.

I couldn’t have asked for a more magical way to end one year and ring in the next. Wishing you all a wonderful holiday season!
