Hot off the heels of sharing a glimpse into my home on Monday, today, I’m sharing a closer look at what date night looks like for David and I. Considering he also has a style blog, a post like this is probably an obvious one, but it took us awhile to get comfortable with the idea, let alone execute it. Even though we’re both in front of and behind the camera regularly for our respective blogs, we’re never doing it together, ironically enough. So when I decided on a whim that I wanted to dress up for a night out, I thought it would also make the perfect opportunity to document us together finally. I’m SUCH a sweatpants-loving couch potato (unlike David who gets dressed up everyday like it’s NBD) that anytime we’re both on the same caliber of dressiness, it’s a big deal.
In addition, we wanted to do something a little bit different for these photos. I’m not sure I’ve ever actually delved into how exactly I came up with Sunkissed Steph as my blog name, but I think these photos can give you a pretty good idea. Aside from my affinity for alliteration, I was obsessed with photos that shot toward the sun when I started my blog five years ago (and I still am!) — you know the kind that I’m referring to: the hazy, soft, golden glow kind of photography you see so often in engagement and wedding photography. While my taste has changed drastically since then, it’s nice to revisit every once in a while — especially when you happen to be in the right place at the right time.

You both look so sharp and these pictures came out super nice! Did you guys use a tripod or did you have a shooter? That dress looks so good on you. I love how it shows some skin yet still keeps it really classy. Eek I never really get dressed up for dates either. I feel like I waste enough time on my outfits for blog shoots so I’m very lazy when I”m “off duty” =(

Thank you so much, Tania! We used a tripod 😉
And I totally feel you on being lazy when I’m off duty — I call it the IRL vs. Instagram struggle, ha.
