Inspired by dry January, I’m kicking off the year with something I’m coining no-buy January. Yup, I’m setting a goal for myself to go a full month (and maybe more!) of not shopping. While the fiscal benefits are great, my main reason for doing this is to actually challenge myself to break out of my cycle of consumption just for the sake of consumption. I buy so many clothes, shoes, and accessories (I even have a monthly budget dedicated to this particularly expensive habit of mine), and while I always buy with intention and love every single one of my purchases, I’ve come to recognize that shopping is a way to satisfy my craving of staking my claim over a trend or item. In other words, I buy something as a way to toss my proverbial hat in the fashion ring and say, “Look! I’ve worn it too,” or to signify that I’ve already “Been there, done that.” This month is going to be an exercise in changing my mindset and redirecting my craving, even if only for awhile.
In the meantime, I’m looking forward to the creative challenge of shopping my own closet and finding new, exciting ways to wear old favorites. Plus, no-buy January is the perfect excuse to lean on family and friends to lend a few noteworthy pieces when I’m feeling bored of my own options — like this vintage Fendi bag from my sister! I have a few pieces I bought in December that haven’t made their debut on the blog yet, but other than that you’ll find me wearing and re-wearing old favorites — and probably doing lots of lustful window shopping in between.
Whether you’re more interested in the monetary benefits or the shift in perspective, I hope you’ll consider joining me in no-buy January this month! I’ve already convinced a couple of my colleagues!

Hi! Where is that vintage fendi bag from? good sites or stores for purchasing cute vintage bags?
Hi Xuan! My sister bought this vintage Fendi off of Poshmark. You can also find really similar options on other consignment sites like The Real Real (my favorite), Vestiare, Rebag, FashionPhile, etc. Hope this helps!
