Blame it on my frugal Asian nature, but people are always so surprised to learn that I actually have very few pieces from luxury design houses. For me, the value of a piece is in its longevity, versatility, and overall look, not its fancy label or expensive price tag. I genuinely want to know — how do you guys feel about splurging on designer goods? Do you think there’s a point at which splurging becomes excessive? And more specifically, are you as tired as I am of seeing the same expensive designer pieces over and over again?
There’s definitely a part of me that feels jaded by the over-saturation of certain designer items in the blogosphere. Granted, I understand that for a lot of bloggers, some of these are probably gifted. And as a blogger myself, I understand the pressure and desire to always own the latest, trendy, usually expensive clothes and accessories — believe me. But as a 20-something girl who supports herself on a more “traditional” salary, I often feel the need to justify a larger purchase, especially if it’s one that’s already made the rounds.
But sometimes, a splurge is 100% worth it, even if it’s the most overplayed, overdone piece on the web. And you know what? If it makes me happy, I’m completely fine with that.

I’ll give you a male perspective, or at least the perspective of one male – I agree, there’s nothing wrong with an occasional designer splurge. However, splurging on a well-made, timeless (as much as a designer good can be timeless) piece will help avoid the buyer’s remorse that inevitably creeps in after the initial euphoria fades.
Thank you so much for your comment! This is so well said, and I could not agree more. No buyer’s remorse here 🙂
