Okay so I fully appreciate the irony of posting a Just Buy This edition during no-buy February, but I finally had some time to shoot this skirt over the weekend!
I’ve had this skirt for awhile (bought it for our Hawaii trip — you can see me wearing it for warm weather here), and as soon as I slipped (pun intended) into it, I knew it would be making its way to a Just Buy This post. A black slip skirt isn’t anything revolutionary, either in fashion or even here on my blog — in fact, I have a Vince one that I wore for years and years, until I gained some COVID weight and couldn’t fit into it anymore. As much as I loved that one when I could still wear it, I’ll be honest, I actually had to have the waist taken in because it was designed to sit on the hip rather than the waist, and anything that needs further tailoring isn’t something I’d recommend to others. After I realized I couldn’t fit into that skirt anymore, I didn’t think I’d ever get a new one. I figured I was over the slip skirt trend, but after a few months of wishing I had one for specific outfits here and there, I decided I did, in fact, want one back in my closet — but it needed to be the perfect one so I would never have to buy another ever again. Cue the extensive research.
After examining the other slip skirts in my closet that still fit me, I noticed two things that were lacking from the Vince one: they’re all 100% silk and have a very stretchy elastic waistband. I decided to go for this Quince one after reading all the amazing reviews, and couldn’t be happier with my decision. It’s affordable, features a forgiving design that would still fit me even if I lost or gained a few pounds, and hits at the perfect calf length for us petite girls. I never want to go without a black slip skirt in my closet again – and now I don’t have to!
