Scarf tops and flip flops — definitely not fall attire over here. I know I said earlier this summer that I’m not much of a flip flop girl, but if I know anything from my eight (!) years of blogging and five years of working as a style editor, it’s that trends have a way of worming their way into your consciousness until they’re all you can think about. After seeing some of my favorite minimalist influencers rock the trend and enough articles on outfit inspo, I decided I needed to try it for myself. With a traditional silhouette like this (versus a more modern version like this), I think the key is to combine the shoes with more menswear-inspired pieces — think: slouchy suiting, baggy jeans, longer hems, etc to offset the dainty nature of the design. I broke out a pair of old wide-leg trousers for this look, but have a pair of white linen trousers that could work too!
